Vanderbilt Theatre
Wendal is a bisexual jazz musician who has become infected with HIV. The play chronicles how he navigates his relationships with his fiance, son, and parents. This play tackles issues of queer sexuality and fundamental religion, set in the early 1990s when the HIV/AIDS epidemic was claiming the lives of many and hope was a commodity. A discussion about queerness, black masculinity, HIV, theatre, and religion will follow the reading.
