Fiddler on the Roof is a musical theater tradition that tells the story of Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman, and his family's struggles to maintain their traditions in the Russian village of Anatevka around 1905. The show is based on Tevye and his Daughters and other stories by Sholem Aleichem, and features music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Joseph Stein.
